CALL TO ORDER / PRESENTATION OF MINUTES
SECTOR 2A AT SNOHOMISH CASCADE ASSOCIATION
7PM APRIL 2, 2013
CALL TO ORDER / PRESENTATION OF MINUTES
- Suzan Miller called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Present were Suzan Miller, Duane Oord, Steve Yandl, Jim Person, Joyce Bowen and Nicole Klages.
- Steve Yandl presented the minutes of the March 2013 meeting. The minutes were unanimously approved.
- Steve Yandl presented HOA financial status. There was $90,691 in checking, $4,709 in the operational reserve and $51,660 in our CD (long term capital replacement fund).
- There are 13 members who still owe for 2013 assessments. There are also 7 members who paid late but failed to pay the interest charge. The late payers will be invoiced for unpaid interest and if they fail to pay they will have the amount added to their assessment for 2014. The 13 who have not paid will receive the next invoice by certified and first class mail and liens will be filed if still unpaid by May 1. Those who only owe a month of interest will be invoiced by first class mail only.
- The budget was ratified by the membership. There were 157 ballots returned with 153 voting ‘yes’ and 4 voting ‘no’.
- When weather improves, Jim Person and Steve Yandl will document which fence sections need to be repaired in early spring.
- Jim Person volunteered to remove the fallen alder tree in the wooded area south of the boat park.
- There were no objections to having Skinner apply new mulch to the common area flower beds this spring.
- Nicole Klages reported that the ground seemed more water saturated than usual near the rock climbing items at the boat park. She also reported that Little League hasn’t placed the portable toilet yet.
- Joyce Bowen had researched the costs of having a new neighborhood entrance sign. A quality sign would cost between $8k and $17k. No directors were enthused about spending that amount on a sign with our current financial situation.
- Paint request from Dan and Terry Howard was approved. Their color samples are in the ACC files.
- Comments were made on the significant yard improvements made at the property recently purchased by the Andahl family.
- Steve Yandl reported on the final results of Matt Nicholson’s Eagle Scout project adding a wood backstop and extra benches at the boat park. Those who had seen the final result felt it was a real improvement to the ballfield.
- Dalton Day’s proposed project to enhance outfield fence at the boat park has been approved by the HOA but we’ve not heard if the troop has given their approval.
- Steve Yandl reminded the group that the annual HOA meeting will be at Totem Falls Elementary School in the library, 7pm May 7. We will have to spend an additional $70 for a janitor since that isn’t a day when the regular janitor is scheduled to be at Totem Falls. Suzan Miller and Joyce Bowen volunteered to bring some coffee and cookies or other baked goods for those attending.
- Invitation to run for a board of directors’ position goes out in the 2nd quarter newsletter. Candidates need to request being placed on the ballot by April 15. Ballots will be mailed the last week of April and completed ballots accepted through the entire month of May. Steve Yandl reminded the group that he would be ordering additional postage stamps.
