The Sector 2A portion of Gold Creek is the part on the east side; the dividing line with Gold Creek 1 (Gold Creek at Snohomish Cascade) being just east of Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue Station 77 and running north-south. Sector 2A is about 95 total acres with the 247 private homes taking about 60 acres, 3 acres belonging to Silver Lake Water & Sewer District, 9 acres as native growth protected areas (NGPA), 3.5 acres of green belt buffer and 4 acres of landscaped common area that includes several tot play areas and a baseball field and about 1.8 acres for two storm water retention pond facilities. The remainder is public right of way (roads and sidewalks).
The Gold Creek neighborhood is on a relatively high plateau over the Snohomish River Valley in SW Snohomish County. Elevation ranges from about 550 feet to 610 feet above sea level. The neighborhood was constructed on cleared second and third growth forest on a soil type categorized as Alderwood gravelly sandy loam that was formed from Vashon glacier till. Gold Creek straddles the cusp line between two major storm water basins; Little Bear Creek that drains to the Sammamish River and Lake Washington, and the marshlands basin that eventually drains to the Snohomish River and Puget Sound.
On parcel maps of Snohomish County, Sector 2A is located at township 27, range 05, section 02, the southwest and northwest quarters. There are three separate plat documents corresponding to the three phases of construction. Phase 1 is document # 9707025004, phase 2 (consisting of blocks 1 and 2) is document # 9707025005, and phase 3 is document # 9811255003.
