4 P.M. MONDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2020
Because Governor Inslee ordered residents to stay at home in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting was conducted using Zoom, hosted by John Alleman. This meeting was called in our regular monthly meeting for the sole purpose of deciding on a variance request from Greg and Laura McLaughlin to operate their Paella House business as a home business.
CALL TO ORDER / PRESENTATION OF MINUTES
- The meeting was called to order at 4pm. Present on Zoom conference were John Alleman (hosting Zoom meeting), Steve Yandl, Nicole Klages, Tanya Edwards and Bill Steenis. Matt Hale was intermittently participating by phone and struggled with some technical challenges because of the phone reception.
- Recap of the McLaughlin situation as discussed at our September board meeting.
- Neighborhood impacts were discussed as well as concerns about giving an open-ended variance that could create future safety problems and lower property values.
- The letter requesting variance was edited to include conditions. The edited variance was unanimously approved. The new conditions are paraphrased below. John Alleman will prepare and send the modified variance to McLaughlins as soon as possible.
- Any changes to the current operating pattern as described in paragraph 1 of the McLaughlins’ proposal will require a new variance request or request to amend the current variance.
- There will be a pre-defined end to the variance. The time limit for this variance will be 6 months following any declaration putting Snohomish County in Phase 4 of the COVID-19 restrictions.
MEETING ADJOURNED AT 4:36PM.
